Current Events
Current Events: 2012-13
Due Date: Every other Friday beginning September 22.
One of my goals as a teacher is to have students understand how what we learn ion class is connected to the larger world in which we all live. One way to do this is through reading and understanding current events. One of the great things about studying geography is that we take in numerous topics that are frequently reported about by the news media.
What you need to do:
· Industrialization & Development
· Trade & Economy
· Culture
· Climate & Climate Change
· Developed & Developing countries
· United Nations and events in foreign countries
· Any other topic we have discussed or talked about

One of my goals as a teacher is to have students understand how what we learn ion class is connected to the larger world in which we all live. One way to do this is through reading and understanding current events. One of the great things about studying geography is that we take in numerous topics that are frequently reported about by the news media.
What you need to do:
- Find an article that is related to something we have studied, or will study this year in Geography class.
- Look for stories on some of the topics that we have discussed this year, or will study; such as:
· Industrialization & Development
· Trade & Economy
· Culture
· Climate & Climate Change
· Developed & Developing countries
· United Nations and events in foreign countries
· Any other topic we have discussed or talked about
- You may use articles from the Internet, newspapers, or magazines.
- Read the article.
- Complete and hand in the Current Events Summary Sheet
- One summary sheet is due every other Friday.
- The articles must be current, nothing older than 30 days from when you submit it.
- You may use an article about the United States, however: no articles about crime, sports, or popular culture! These topics are generally not considered Current Events.
- Use the suggested web sites below or other sources such as newspapers or magazines.
- You must hand in one summary sheet every other week! They are due on Friday, but they may be submitted earlier in the week. No late summary sheets will be accepted unless I have told you to hand it in late.
- If you are out on Friday, the summary sheet is due the next day you are in school.
