Ancient China and India Project
In this project you will examine the relationship between the physical geography and culture and history of either the civilization of ancient China or India. You have the choice of either presenting your project as a posterboard, or as a PowerPoint slide show.
Project
1. Create a posterboard and display of either Ancient China or India. In the posterboard, you will answer the following essential question:
How has China or India’s physical geography influenced its cultural development, including: customs and belief systems, history, government structures, and economic development?
Your poster board should address five specific areas:
2. Create a PowerPoint presentation (12-14 slides) either Ancient China or India. In the presentation you will answer the same essential question as stated above. If you create a PowerPoint, you must also hand-in the Timeline separately too. Find the details on this below.
Your presentation should have the following slides:
1. Title Slide
2. Relative location with a map
3. Land Regions & landforms
4. Climate Regions
5. Economy
6. Government
7. Culture (2-3 slides)
8. History (2-3 slides)

Poster Board Requirements Ancient China and India Project
Poster boards should be large tri-folds.
* Include two images with captions for each of the 5 sections below.
** Detail means 2 to 4 sentences/bullet points.
1) Physical Geography:
· In this section detail your civilization’s relative location, major landforms and regions, and climate. Describe each landmark and climate in at least two sentences
· Your description of physical geography should include at least four major landforms or regions, and at least four climate regions.
2) Economic:
· Have at least three detailed and independent points or ideas that relate to economic systems, trading partners and relationships, and natural resources.
· An idea or point will likely have multiple relationships. For example, you may describe an important trade relationship that developed due to a natural resource that the civilization possessed and leverages in its growth.
3) Government:
· Have at least three detailed and independent points or ideas that relate to government systems, structures, and significant leaders in the area of government or politics.
4) Customs and belief Systems (Culture):
· Have at least four detailed and independent points or ideas that relate to culture and customs. This will include, but it is not limited to, ideas such as language, religion and belief systems, philosophy, art/music, and literature.
5) History:
· Choose at least four significant events that relate to the history of your civilization
· Historical timeline: Your timeline dates should cover from approximately 2400 BCE to the present day. In your timeline you should have:
· A description of at least 15 significant events in your civilization’s history.
· Events should be generally equally distributed along the timeline.

Related Steps:
- Research and compile notes on either ancient China or India using the Research Worksheet.
- Turn in the Research worksheet for approval and a grade.
- Based on your Research Worksheet, create a posterboard or PowerPoint detailing the five major areas of either India or China. Once again, the five major areas are:
